Expanding a long time hobby

I've always enjoyed shooting as a hobby, primarily pistols, but recently added some longer range rifles to the mix. This page will be some pics and updates on the rifles I've been playing with.

Ruger SFAR .308

As enjoyed shooting my 16" BCM M-4, I wanted something with a bit more range, keeping with the AR format I picked up a Ruger SFAR in .308 with a 20" barrel. Initially had a cheap optic on it, and totally hated the scope. Replaced it with a Primary Arms 5-25 and very pleased with it. Only have 120 rounds through it, but so far it's been flawless. Currently shooting 1.5" groups at 100yds, so need to try some different rounds.

Savage 110 Tactical in 6.5 Creedmoor

Wanted to add a bolt action to see if I can get a bit better groups and have some fun putting a lower cost bolt action together. This rifle started with a Savage Arms Tactical in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24" barrel. The 6.5 is an inherently flatter shooting round than the .308. Wanting something more like a target rifle, I swapped out the original stock with an MDT ORYX chassis system. I also added an Area 419 Hellfire muzzle brake, while the round doesn't have a lot of recoil this really seems to minimize it. In keeping with low cost, I went with an Arken EP-5 5-25x optic. I wanted to try something different than the Primary Arms optic on the Ruger. So far have 60 rounds, getting an 1" group at 100 with Hornady 140gr ELD match. I think this has more potential, probably exceeding my capability.
